Wazuka: Cha-Soba lunch

Our guide then brought us to a very interesting place for lunch: Wazukaya soba noodle shop (茶蕎麦專門店 和東家) 🗾. This is an all-women-owned noodle restaurant that serves a cha-soba lunch.

Cha-soba means soba noodles made with green tea. Wazuka tea is a premium green tea (often matcha or sencha) from Kyoto Prefecture and is a famous Uji tea, known for its particularly fragrant flavor. This restaurant is the only cha-soba specialty restaurant in Japan that serves cha-soba made with Wazuka tea.

We tried their Sanbo Wazuka Green Tea Soba, served in a three-tiered box with Yakumo lacquerware. You can enjoy comparing the different types of Cha Soba with over six types of condiments carefully selected by Wazukaya. The meal also included their deep-fried tofu and vegetable tempura.

After lunch, we set out for Nara.
