Tokyo: teamLab Borderless Experience
Taking the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line (東京メトロ日比谷線) from Tsukiji Station (築地駅) 🗾 to Kamiyachō Station (神谷町駅) 🗾 brought us near teamLab Borderless: MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM (森ビル デジタルアート ミュージアム:エプソン チームラボボーダレス) 🗾. That meant we arrived well before our 4 PM entrance tickets, so we walked around the area a bit. It was, again, very hot, so we sought refuge in the Azabudai Hills complex, where the exhibit is also located.

teamLab is an international art collective. This particular exhibit combines art, light, and computer technology to present a “borderless” experience. “Artworks move out of rooms, relate to other works, influence each other, and at times intermingle, without boundaries. Through this group of works, one continuous world without boundaries is created.”
The constantly changing nature of the exhibits, combined with their reliance on light and projections, requires darkness. This means walking around can be challenging at times, and keeping your bearings is challenging too. Taking pictures is also complicated, as darkness requires longer shutter speeds, which can cause motion blur. What cannot be shown in the pictures is that there is sound everywhere, leading to a very immersive experience.
Although it was busy, the timed entrance tickets kept the total number of people in the exhibit reasonable. We spent about an hour and a half wandering around before taking the train back to our hotel.
