Hiroshima: Transfer on Shinkansen
On the morning of June 23, we walked from the hotel to Shijō Station (四条駅) 🗾 and took a short subway ride to Kyōto Station (京都駅) 🗾, where we boarded the 09:25 Shinkansen Nozomi 9 (のぞみ 9) to take us to Hiroshima. The journey, taking place at speeds exceeding 180 mph, takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes.
We were met at Hiroshima station by our guide for the day, Ms. Nami Katsube. She accompanies us to our hotel, the ANA Crowne Plaza Hiroshima by IHG 🗾} so we can get rid of our luggage. From there, we set out to explore Hiroshima with her. We will depart Hiroshima late the next afternoon, so we have just over 24 hours to explore. We discuss the plan with the guide and decide to explore the Peace Plaza, which is very near our hotel, and then go to Miyajima Island for the rest of the afternoon.
The next day, we will be on our own, explore the Atomic Bomb Museum next to the Peace Plaza, find an authentic Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki lunch, and travel to Osaka.
