We had much of our trip planned and organized by InsideJapan Tours. This was super convenient because we didn’t know where to go and didn’t have time to research and book hotels, train tickets, etc.

If you have the interest and time to plan all of this yourself, you can save a significant amount of money! There are many resources where you can find ideas for places to visit, sights to see, and places to stay, among other things. Additionally, most hotels and other accommodations can be booked online. You can also consider Airbnb, which is available in Japan.
