Megumi Kawamura will be studying at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan for the 2018-2019 school year where she will continue to work towards an international business degree at the School of International Liberal Studies. Growing up in the Bay Area, she has always had a deep appreciation for a diversity of culture and people. This appreciation only heightened when she arrived at UC San Diego and got to meet people from all over the country and world. She became a brother of the pre-law fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta, and served on the executive board of the Student Organized Voter Access Committee where she met many of the students that make up UCSD’s diverse student body all while increasing voter efficacy and raising awareness for political issues amongst college students.
Megumi is currently a marketing and data analytics intern at Loudmouth Golf, a clothing brand that is headquartered in San Mateo, California, but is also based in Japan. While in Japan, Megumi will continue remotely interning for Loudmouth and hopes to visit the Japan office and stores located throughout the country.
Outside of school and work, Megumi has always enjoyed living an active lifestyle. She grew up playing competitive tennis, golf, and basketball, and most recently competed in a 100-mile bike race. She welcomes any and all challenges as she knows that overcoming them is coupled with newfound strength and personal growth. Megumi is extremely excited to live and study in Japan, navigate the unknown, and take in all that Japan has to offer. She ultimately hopes to become more aligned with her heritage, become fluent in Japanese, and explore Japan and its beautiful culture.
