Andrea Martinez-Calvillo graduated, but continued her studies of Latin American Literature and History at the University of Costa Rica in 2002. Volunteer work at a secondary school will prepare her for entry into the teaching profession. “I am very excited about this study abroad experience and hope to learn and grow from this travel opportunity as much as I did from my stay in Mexico,” she wrote before her departure.
Andrea had a great experience in San Jose, Costa Rica. Perhaps her most rewarding time was spent teaching dance at a high school and performing with her students.
Now she is back in San Diego, working on her teaching credential at San Diego State University. She is a student teaching seventh grade English Language learners.
